INSTITUTIONAL ENGAGEMENT: FATIM CISSÉ AT THE PLATINUM BUILDING

INSTITUTIONAL ENGAGEMENT: FATIM CISSÉ AT THE PLATINUM BUILDING

The Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (TRB), Professor Philémon Zoo Zame, received in audience on Tuesday the Chief Executive Officer of IHS Cameroon, Ms. Fatim Cissé. This meeting forms part of the ongoing dialogue the regulator maintains with key stakeholders in the national telecommunications ecosystem.

IHS Cameroon holds a pivotal role in the sector as a provider of passive infrastructure, notably through the management and maintenance of towers and telecom sites used by mobile operators across the country. Though largely invisible to the general public, this activity is fundamental to the availability and resilience of the network: territorial coverage and service continuity for millions of Cameroonian users depend directly on these shared facilities.

Two matters were on the agenda. First, a meeting initially planned with CAMTEL representatives, which ultimately did not take place. Second, the review of outstanding invoices between IHS and the TRB, a dossier on which both parties agreed to continue discussions.
Ms. Cissé commended the openness of the TRB Director General and the quality of the dialogue established between her company and the regulator. She expressed confidence that pending issues would be resolved in the coming weeks, while reaffirming IHS’s commitment to strengthening a lasting partnership with the TRB.

This audience exemplifies the working method adopted by Professor Zoo Zame since assuming leadership of the institution: fostering continuous dialogue with all actors in the sector (operators, equipment suppliers, and infrastructure providers) in order to anticipate and resolve operational challenges before they affect end-users. This concerted approach aligns with the broader mission pursued by the TRB: the ongoing improvement of operators’ Quality of Service (QoS) and, ultimately, the enhancement of the user experience for Cameroonians in their daily access to telecommunications services.
