TRB Director General meets telecom operators in Douala to tighten oversight on Quality of Service

TRB Director General meets telecom operators in Douala to tighten oversight on Quality of Service

As part of its ongoing framework for monitoring the quality of electronic communications services, the Director General of the Telecommunications Regulatory Board (TRB), Professor Philémon Zoo Zame, is conducting a working visit to Douala on April 13–14, 2026. His mission includes meetings with concessionary operators MTN Cameroon and Orange Cameroun, as well as IHS Cameroon, a company specializing in the management and development of telecommunications infrastructure.

For the fourth consecutive year, the TRB is pursuing a rigorous process of investment oversight, initiated after the Quality of Service (QoS) Workshop chaired by the Minister of Posts and Telecommunications in Yaoundé in December 2022. This approach reflects the regulator’s determination to ensure that no commitment remains unchecked.

At the heart of these high-level sessions are:

• An assessment of the investments announced in 2025 and their actual implementation.
• A review of each operator’s investment plans for 2026.
• Examination of projects aimed at improving nationwide network coverage, including priority road corridors.

Discussions will also address the outcomes of initiatives presented during the WTO meetings (March 26–29, 2026) and the readiness of networks ahead of the papal visit to Cameroon scheduled for April 15, 2026.
On Monday, April 13, the TRB Director General will meet with MTN Cameroon executives to evaluate past achievements and future investment ambitions. On Tuesday, April 14, the sessions will continue with Orange Cameroun, followed by IHS.

For Cameroonian consumers, these visits provide tangible reassurance: their expectations regarding mobile connectivity are conveyed directly to the highest level of operators, with verifiable commitments and enforceable action plans. In doing so, the TRB reaffirms its role as an active sentinel of a constantly evolving telecommunications sector, working in the service of the public interest.
